Info

This 12m² micro apartment conceived as a flexible short stay haven for a Brisbane - based professionals, offers a quiet lesson in how small spaces can still feel expansive, intentional, and richly atmospheric.

The brief called for minimal structural changes, favouring crafted modular joinery to define a series of gently interlocking zones for rest, work, and pause. The result is a finely tuned interior that balances utility and warmth, built for everyday rituals and retreat.

Design elements are deliberately understated but deeply layered: curved timber forms, perforated screens and chamfered junctions soften edges and coax natural light deeper into the space. From the single north facing window, daylight washes over rich cocoa textured plaster, contrasting white oiled oak, and brushed stainless steel, lending the apartment a quietly cinematic glow throughout the day.

The custom designed kitchenette acts as both a sculptural insert and luminous centrepiece - its surfaces dissolving boundaries while amplifying light. Integrated storage, a concealed king sized bed snug, and a compact study nook are seamlessly integrated ensuring the space shifts easily between modes of work and rest.

This project reflects our studio’s belief in thoughtful, tactile design. Interior environments that are expressive and built with clarity and care. It's a gentle provocation to think differently about scale and comfort, and a reminder that great design doesn’t always need more space - just more intention.
